Genesis Retail Displays is a point of sale display design agency in Sydney that can create, manufacture and distribute POP displays for products that are to be sold in electrical retailers like Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Myers, David Jones or JB Hi Fi.

Our brief was to design a winning display for Tefal’s New Pure Pop Garment Steamer that was to be set up in The Good Guys retail stores. Tefal, a brand renowned for creating the first non-stick pan, approached us with an exciting challenge. They were launching a new product, their first in this category – the Pure Pop Garment Steamer.

This is a compact and powerful travel-friendly steam iron – unlike others in the market which can be inconvenient to pack in your luggage .

What was their goal?
The brand wanted to have an an eye-catching, user-friendly point of sale display designed  that would stand out in the busy consumer electronics market.

Tefal wanted the product to be presented in a way that encouraged hands-on interaction, matched the brand’s reputation, and the product’s attractive price point.

Additionally, the display needed to be flexible and updateable to reflect changing branding requirements and fit various retail environments.

How did we design this point of sale?

We took a 4-step approach to achieve success with this execution;

1.Concept development:

We started by thoroughly understanding Tefal’s requirements and the specific needs of their target retailers. Given the product’s top-heavy design, we needed a clever way to display it without obscuring its features.

2.Design and prototyping:

Our team developed multiple visual options, including sketches and 3D prototypes. We focused on creating a display that would allow customers to easily interact with the product, enhancing the touch-and-feel experience known to double sales.

We proposed a clear, unobtrusive sturdy acrylic stand to keep the steam iron visible while securely upright. These stands had a graphic display in front and in the back, both of which are easily updatable to match retailers’ frequently changing colour choices.

3. Production:

Once the design was approved, we moved to production. Our manufacturing capabilities allowed us to produce the displays locally with a fast turnaround of 8-10 weeks.

4. Logistics and distribution:

After production, Tefal’s third-party logistics (3PL) partners managed the distribution and setup in the retail store The Good Guys.

What did the final display look like?

The result?

  • High Visibility
  • Customer Engagement
  • Sales

The launch of Tefal’s Pure Pop Garment Steamer was a resounding success. The displays were installed in The Good Guys stores across Australia, significantly boosting the product’s visibility.

Customers appreciated the opportunity to touch and feel the product before purchase, reducing perceived risk and enhancing purchase confidence. The interactive displays led to a notable increase in sales, particularly during the pre-Christmas period and the Summer travel season.

This case study highlights how innovative design and efficient execution can lead to retail success. See more examples of our pop displays in our extensive gallery.
